Non so fare nè un muretto, nè usare la cazzuola, nè sgrassare i mattoni con l’acido muriatico. Ma a sovraincidere mi sono specializzato e faccio muri con mattoni di “autismo” e calce di “ego” (Enrico Gabrielli)
Enrico “Der Maurer” Gabrielli e Sebastiano de Gennaro, hanno il merito di rappresentare una genuina tradizione di artigianato musicale: oltre ad una multiforme attività individuale, accolgono l’urgenza, nei repertori di musica moderna, di riappropriarsi di una funzione sociale e confrontarsi con il presente. Dopo le incursioni nei codici di Andriessen e Reich, colgono con l’ultima registrazione 1940 / 19’40" il tratto atemporale di Cage, rifuggendo dalla consueta rilettura, riportando in vita l’approccio leggero e sincero dell’artista americano.

Un caleidoscopio di abilità, perizia, gioco e limpidezza che non può essere racchiuso all’interno di un perimetro.
La varietà e diversità degli altri strumenti utilizzati, suonati spesso in maniera speculare, completa l’indescrivibile forma sonora: un mix di elettronica, ambient e minimalismo, immerso in ampi spazi di libera improvvisazione, tra i quali affiorano brani di Aphex Twin, Philip Glass, Nucleus, Ravel e altri.

Enrico “Der Maurer” Gabrielli & Sebastiano de Gennaro are well versed in representing musical craft and tradition. Beyond their own individual, multi-platform works, they pay attention to the needs of modern music requiring the application of relevant social functions.
After examining the musical approach of Andriessen and Reich, the pair re-imagine Cage’s composition in their lastest recording 1940/19’40” to bring together past, present, and future. Looking back to move forward, they expand upon standard interpretations of the American composer by restoring his distinguishing, easy and sincere approach.

Vincenzo Vasi and Valeria Sturba present a fusing theremin, violin, viola, voice, toys, live electronics and ukulele, demonstrating interactions between timbre, melody and harmony.
Such is the multiplicity and diversity of symbolic instrumentation, the resulting sound is best described as a blend of electronica, ambient IDM and minimalism, immersed in the wider spaces of free improvisation, the spirit of Aphex Twin, Phillip Glass, Nucleus and Ravel reanimated.
